Profile

Mere Keating is of Maori/Irish descent. Mere has been weaving since 2001 and expresses her gratitude to Amanda Brooke for giving her the weaving bug and Hemoata Henare of Moerewa in the Bay of Islands for being her weaving mentor.

Mere weaves everyday at her studio/home in the Old Mangamahu hotel. Here she has planted an extensive Pa Harakeke which includes harakeke cultivars from the Renee Orchiston Collection and a variety of good weaving harakeke collected from around the local region. Mere  has a regular stall at the Whanganui River Traders market every Saturday 8am -1pm. She exhibits her work from time to time, and her beautiful kete and potae are available at the "Front of House' Whanganui Museum in Wanganui City.
